Hike app is a popular messaging application in India. Yesterday, Hike: payment, hide chat, stickers, calling application gave us a new surprise in their release conference – “TOTAL” built by “Hike”. Total by Hike is a refined version of Android targeted at next billion users. It lets a user access to several services without any active data connection. Services like – messaging, News, Recharge, Rail info and more.
HOW DO IT WORK?
Hike total services are based on the USSD technology. USSD(unstructured supplementary service data) is a communication technology that is used to send text between a mobile phone & an application programme in the network. So, Hike partners with Airtel / Aircel & BSNL to enable this effective service for us. In which SSD a special number do all the lifting of encrypting, compressing & transmitting data into the networks.
FEATURES OF HIKE TOTAL
- WORKS WITHOUT ACTIVE DATA CONNECTION
All the services can be used by a user without internet or data connection as all the encryption, compression & transmitting data based on the USSD protocol.
- CONSUME VERY LESS SPACE IN MEMORY
All the services on the “TOTAL” take between <100kb to 1MB> on the device it will be running.
- SMALL DATA PACKS
A user will be able to purchase small packs low as Re.1 in order to access these service within the total App.
On the launch of ‘Total, built by hike’, Kavin Bharti Mittal, Founder, and CEO, Hike said, “For the next billion true mobile-first users, coming online can still be quite complicated and intimidating. Simplify, simplify, simplify. That’s all we’ve been doing. We’ve taken the 15–20 step process of someone coming online and made it into only a few steps — “Buy a phone, turn it on and you’re good to go. Everything, all the essential services all work out of the box even without data.”
According to HIKE: Intex & Karbonn are the first smartphones partners for the Hike TOTAL services. You can find this services in following devices:-
INTEX- Aqua Lion N1, Aqua Lion T1, Lion T- lite.
KARBONN – A40 Indian.
These devices will hit the shelves on 1st March 2018. You will also get a Rs.200 credit that you can spend up on any service you want.
