Twitter has updated their “TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION”. Two-factor authentication is a secure way to login to your account. It ensures that only the right full owner of the account can access.
HOW Two-factor authentication work?
If someone has enabled Two-factor authentication, then he has to provide a code & his unique password to log in. The passcode will be sent to the user by twitter on to their registered mobile number. It is also known as 2FA (two-factor verification), it is an extra level of security. Which requires not only username & password but also a piece of information that only & only a user has that can be a passcode, OTP, Fingerprint, third-party authentication code, etc.
Twitter now gave us a choice to use 3-party applications which help us to log in securely into our accounts. On twitter Blogspot, announced now you can use applications like authy or Google authentication to log in. Until now MSG is the only support in 2FA, set as default. Apps like Google authentication app will provide you a code that users can use instead of a password.
WHY THIRD PARTY APPLICATIONS?
Using SMS is less secure than the third-party applications because apps like google authentication change code in every 30 second and they did not even require an internet connection to do so. Third-party applications are considered more secure than other modes of login.
HOW TO ENABLE THIS FEATURE ON TWITTER?
STEP 1 – Start using a Third party application of your choice (recommendation – google authentication app).
STEP 2- Head on to your account navigate to privacy section.
STEP 3- Find Security & enable two-factor authentication.
